Czeslaw “Chet” Plachno, 76, of Bristol, husband of Irena (Plona) Plachno, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home. Chet was born in Borzecin Dolny, Poland, on September 15, 1937 and was a son of the late Stanislaw and Wiktoria (Rogoz) Plachno. Chet was a longtime Bristol resident and retired in 2000 from Associated Spring - Barnes Group after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, the Bristol Polish Club, was known for being a “Jack of all trades” and was a collector at the church. Besides his wife of 49 years, Chet is survived by a son: Stanley Plachno, of Bristol; a daughter and son-in-law: Dorothy and Jeremy Stone, of Southbury; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Gregory and Tristan Plachno and Hunter and Chase Stone; a loving sister: Donna Konieczny, of FL; sisters-in-law: Elzbieta and Eugene Golder and Kazik and Wiesia Mlynarczuk; a special niece: Bernadette Bartosch and her husband Rich: and numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. He was predeceased by two brothers: Stanislaw and Tadeusz Plachno and a sister: Helena Plachno. Chet's family would like to thank Bristol Hospital Oncology and Hospice for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, 10 AM from the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol to St. Stanislaus Church, 492 West St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home, on Thursday between 6 and 8 PM.
