Lillie Ruth "Sister" Childs

June 3, 1939 - January 20, 2014 <-

Lillie Ruth Childs, daughter of the late Benjimin Graham and Charlie Mae (Williams) Graham, was born June 3, 1939 in Mitchell County, Georgia.

She graduated from Camilla Consolidated High School in 1957. She furthered her education at Fort Valley State College, now Fort Valley State University, and Albany State College, now Albany State University.

She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.

She was united in marriage to Joe Childs, who preceded her in death.

She worked in the Mitchell County School System and retired after thirty years of service.

Sister, as she was affectionately called, departed this life on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

She leaves to cherish her memories, four children, Joe Childs, Jr. (Barbara) of Pelham, Georgia, Deborah Childs of Camilla, Georgia, Keva Quimbley (Frederick) of Camilla, Georgia, Brian Childs of Gainesville, Florida; one brother, Terry Graham (Joann) of Camilla, Georgia.

Additionally, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Jennie V. Graham of Camilla, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, Shudondra Childs, Shonda Childs, Eldrick Childs, Aisha (Freddie) Murray, D'Erika Quimbley, Kederick Quimbley, Taneshia (Niko) Shelton, Nedavia Harris, Lateshia Childs, Akeem Childs, BriDarius Childs, Jeremiah Childs; five great grandchildren, Bryce Burley, Titus Murray, Unique Murray, George Childs, Elijah Murray; five aunts, Lessie Mae Graham, Sarah Willingham, Lillie Crawford of Camilla, Georgia, Mary Nell Macon of St. Petersburg, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service:

The funeral service of Lillie Ruth (Sister) Childs, will be conducted Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 331 Peachtree Street, Camilla. Minister Veon Williams, pastor. Words of comfort will be by her son, Pastor Joe L. Childs, Jr.

Interment will follow in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Service Participants:

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mitchell County High School Class of 1989.

Flower Bearers will be Mitchell County High School Classes of 1979 and 1987.

Active Pallbearers will be Eldrick Childs, Calvin Franklin, Kenneth Graham, Sedwick Graham, Yoshida Graham, Henry Hayward, Jr., Tony Jackson, Winston Ross.

Public viewing will be Friday, January 24, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at Robert Jester Mortuary. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Robert Jester Mortuary.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of Ms. Childs daughter, Keva Quimbley, at 7318 U.S. Highway 19, Camilla.
