Karen Ray Karl, beloved Wife, Mother and Mimi, passed from this life on Sunday, March 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 11, 1958 to William and Joann Clinton. Karen, her twin sister, Sharon, and brother Bill grew up in Lake Jackson and Shady Acres and she graduated from Sweeny High School.

Karen married the love of her life, Gary Karl, on September 17, 1977 and they were blessed with three children, Katrina, Kevin and Krystle. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brazoria. She worked at JC Penney's for 37 years until her retirement in 2013; loved music, sewing, crafts, shopping, baking, and spending time with her family. She looked forward to her annual camping trips to New Braunfels and San Marcos with Mike and Shirley Wallace and Robert and Alma Shaffer for the last 30 years. One of her greatest moments occurred in 2008 when she became Mimi to her beautiful granddaughter, Kaedyn.

Karen is survived by her husband, Gary Karl of Brazoria, her daughter, Katrina Otto and husband Brent and their daughter Kaedyn, of La Grange, son Kevin Karl and wife Laura-Sue of West Columbia, and daughter Krystle Karl of Houston, her brother, William B. Clinton Jr., and wife Dena of Brazoria, and her mother and father-in-law Ruby and Roy Karl of Brazoria, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and their extended families; Also, her canine companion, Katie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William B. Clinton and Joann Clinton along with her twin sister, Sharon Shelander.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 26th from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27 at First Baptist Church of Brazoria at 10:00 A.M., followed by graveside services at Restwood Cemetery in Clute. Pallbearers will be Ernest Karl, Terry Karl, Donald Karl, Robert Shaffer, Dennis Searcy, and James Wannamaker. Karen was beautiful, kind and loving and will be missed by all that knew her. The family would like to thank all the family and friends for your kind words and prayers during this difficult time.
