Matthew Mayo Thornton
Feb. 24, 1981 - Sep. 12, 2014

Matthew Mayo Thornton, 33, was a man of few words, and he left an enormous silence when he left our lives. He left this life in the early hours of the morning of Friday, September 12, 2014, in Salina, Utah. He leaves behind his parents, Parker and Lorre Opfar Thornton; his siblings, Aaron (Jenny Biesinger) Thornton, Melissa (Jed) Maxwell, Zachary (Meagan Rogers) Swearingen, Marchanda (Mike) Quercia and many friends and family who loved him.

Matthew was born on February 24, 1981 in Provo, Utah. He was a happy, curious, and inventive child. He was a hard worker, his heart was large and accepting of all. His smile was genuine and he was often found helping others.

Matthew worked magic with wood and building materials. The homes of his family all benefitted from his unparalleled workmanship.

He loved being in the mountains and often took his beloved dog for runs and hikes in the hills surrounding his home. He found much joy in camping, fishing, and four-wheeling.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West in Richfield, where friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30. Burial will follow in the Richfield City Cemetery.
