Jon Martin Marcinko

March 13, 1941 - April 26, 2014 <-

Jon M. Marcinko(K7KG) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26th after a 6 year battle with Alzheimers Disease and Cancer. Jon was born in Tacoma, WA on March 13, 1941 to James and Thelma Marcinko. Jon is survived by his wife Janice at the family home, brother Christopher (Kit) Marcinko, son David Marcinko, daughter Lisa Hulett, four grandchildren, Samantha Marcinko, Cassandra, Carissa and Anton Hulett, step-daughter Susan (Kirby) Smith and their son Layne Smith.

Jon grew up in Lacey and attended Lacey Grade School, Washington Junior High and graduated from Olympia High School, class of 1959. He also attended St. Martins College in Lacey for 2 years.

Jon became a Amateur Radio Operator at the age of 12. He is well known in the radio community for his vast knowledge of Ham Radio Operations. He also followed his love of radio communications in his work career. Jon retired in March 2010 from the State of Washington, Department of Natural Resouces, as Radio Systems Designer. He will be missed by his family and his many friends in the radio community.

A Celebration of Jon's life will be held on Friday, May 9th at the Pierce County Fire District 21, Graham Fire & Rescue, at 23014 70th Ave E Graham, WA 98338.
