WIlliam John Kolstad

August 6, 1952 - May 2, 2014 <-

William “Bill” Kolstad was born August 6, 1952 in San Deigo, CA and left at age 61 on May 2, 2014 in Tacoma, WA. He died of a rare brain disease. Bill was well known for his guitar playing and singing as well as his dry sense of humor, pony tail, flip-flops and commitment to his love of his heavenly father. Bill not only wrote his own music, but also built exquisite guitars and other instruments with incredible artistry. He walked to the beat of his own drum and pursued his many interests with great passion. Bill loved a good debate and sharing of ideas. He will be remembered for his great laugh, loving heart, unique mind, wealth of knowledge, artistry, life long dedication to creating music and love of coffee.

Bill is survived by his three children: Renee Carrasquillo of Texas, Suzanne Jenkins of California, David Kolstad of Washington and eight grandchildren. Bill is survived by his former wife of 39 years, Rebecca Kolstad. As Bill would say it “I’m not dead, I’m temporarily set back”.

A celebration of his life will be held in Spring of 2015 in Southern California, where he spent most of his life.

For he will transform the body of our own humiliation into the image of his glorious body, according to his great power by which everything has been made subject to him.

Philippians 3:21

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps”

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping

While my guitar gently weeps

I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping

Still my guitar gently weeps
